Where can I sign up for Robotics training and what age should I be ?
Please visit the Young Help Suriname Facebook page or the Robotics Team Suriname page for posts on training registrations. Kids ages 14 - 18 can sign up for the training. Usually we allow a group of maximum 4 students ages 18-24 to also sign up if they are interested in training to become a mentor.
Are there visiting or open days of Robotics Training sessions ?
From time to time we organize an Open day and visitors are welcome to attend a presentation and robot display. Announcements of open days are posted on YHS and Robotics Team Facebook pages.

What is the global/international robotics competition Suriname has been participating in ?
Suriname has been participating in the FIRST Global Challenge since it was initiated in 2017. Our national Robotics team has represented Suriname in Washington DC (2017), Mexico City (2028), Dubai (2019), Switzerland (2022) and Singapore (2023).
Young Help Suriname is the counterpart of FIRST Global in Suriname and in charge of recruiting, training and selecting students for the international challenge.
FIRST stands for 'For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology'. The FIRST Global Challenge is an Olympic style (sports) event bringing teams together annually from over 180 countries for a 3 day coopetition (collaborative competition). Students need to be between ages 13-19 and not have graduated from high school (AMTO/Natin, Lyceum, AMS) to be selected to represent their country.

Student who successfully complete one of our STEM/Robotics training programs are granted access to the community.

What are the topics of focus of the Young Entrepreneurs Business Club ?
Communications, teamwork, decision-making, planning and executing a meeting, problem-solving, creativity, presentation skills: everything applied in a competitive video pitching closing event with a jury and 1st place winner prize.
In what language are the club activities ?
Instructions and activities are all in Dutch. Students have the option to use ENglish for their video pitch if they like to.
